SIGHT (Service of Information Guidance and Hospitality for Travellers) is a special Mensa service around the world that allows Mensans to meet other Mensans when visiting foreign countries. It is not a Special Interest Group, so you can't join SIGHT the way you join a SIG. Instead, it is a network of Mensans who want to meet other Mensans. They do this in two ways: either by contacting Mensans in areas they visit or by welcoming travelling Mensans to their homes and countries.

Not all SIGHT hosts actually provide lodging. Some can offer a dinner invitation, or advice on shopping or sightseeing, or whatever. Moreover, they are not obligated to put up guests who arrive at inconvenient times, or who are rude and demanding.

How do you get in touch with SIGHT? Some National SIGHT Coordinators are listed in the International Journal or national newsletters. You may contact them directly but be aware the these lists change regularly. For the latest contact information or queries regarding the program, you should contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Note that some countries may not have any SIGHT hosts or even Mensans.

You will often need to show proof of your Mensa membership. Be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) or SAE+IRC (self-addressed envelope + international reply coupon) if you are writing to them via standard mail and require a reply. Remember to inform your host if you change your travel plans. All SIGHT hosts are voluntary. With e-mail, arrangements are now easier and can be finalized within days instead of the weeks or even months required when corresponding via standard mail. As far as possible, always try to contact SIGHT Coordinators via e-mail.

SIGHT hosts are always welcome. Don't miss this chance to meet fellow Mensans from around the world. If you wish to volunteer your services to the Malaysian Mensa SIGHT program, please contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
